About
The Te Murumāra Foundation continues the work of the late Professor John C. Moorfield who created Te Whanake, a comprehensive suite of text and digital resources for learning and teaching te reo Māori as a second language.
Our Mission
The purpose of the Te Murumāra Foundation is to protect, maintain and revitalise Te Reo Māori as a national treasure through:
- Reviewing, revising, updating and extending existing Te Whanake resources in print and digital.
- Considering projects which seek to utilise any of the Te Whanake resources to benefit and advance the Māori language.
- Maintaining easy access to te reo Māori and the Te Whanake suite of resources for public use.
